Lyon airport transfer

Lyon Airport is actually named Lyon Saint-Exupéry International Airport (LYS). It is located in the heart of the Rhône-Alps region, and it is a major hub for ski transfers. Situated in Colombier-Saugnin, the airport is placed at 24 km east of Lyon city centre. Lyon is the capital of the Rhône-Alpes region and the second largest city in France. Although Lyon Airport is slightly further away from ski slopes than other airports in the region (Grenoble, Chambéry, and Geneva airports), it is served by a large number of regular airlines.

Lyon airport was formerly known as Lyon Satolas Airport (being renamed in 2000), and it was opened in 1975 to replace Lyon Bron Airport. In addition, it is the 4th busiest airport in France, handling 6.5 million passengers annually. It has got 2 terminals served by 44 airlines. Moreover, the airport is located in A432 motorway.

Lyon Airport transfers give easy access to several French ski resorts and amazing mountainous scenery. A one to one and a half hour transfer can take you to the following ski resorts: Chamrousse, Autran, Corrençon en Vercors, Gresse en Vercors, Laus en Vercors, Lelex, and Villard de Lans. Ski transfer from Lyon Airport can be arranged to take you to several ski resorts within 2 hours: Albiez, Montrond, La Toussuire (both in Les Sybelles Ski Area), Aussois, Besse, Bramans, Bride-les-Bains (opened from December to May), Champagny en Vanoise, Flaine, La Clusaz (opened from December to April), Le Carroz (in Grand Massif Ski Area), among others.

Airport transfer from Lyon airport can also reach Auris-en-Oisand (Grandes Rousses Ski Area), Chamonix, Combloux (both in Ski Pass Mont Blanc Area), Courchevel, La Tania, Méribel (all last three in Three Valleys Ski Area), Le Deux Alpes (Grande Galaxie Ski Area), Val Cenis, Tignes, Val d’Isere (both in Espace Killy Ski Area), and Montriond (Portes du Soleil Ski Area). All take about 2 to 2,5 hours transfer time.

It is possible to get to most ski resorts by bus or taxi instead of a private Lyon airport transfer. But for groups of 3 or more it is often best to arrange a ski transfer Lyon in advance with one of the Lyon airport transfer operators. Booking a private Lyon airport transfer will allow you to start you holiday without the stress of getting to the bus stations and paying expensive taxi fares.
