Airolo is a very popular ski resort in the Swiss Alps. It is famed for its very challenging off-piste runs and is home to many of the worlds top professional skiers. The town of Airolo has many hotels and guest houses, and is home to a number of noted restaurants and bars that cater for winter sports fans. The closest airports to Airolo are Lugano and Chiasso, from which transfer times are around one to two hours. Zurich, Fom and Sion airports are also options for Airolo but transfer time can be well over two hours during peak travel time. Transfer from Turin might attract higher charges as the transfer route goes through the Mont Blanc Tunnel.
There are public transport options to get to Airolo, but you should bear in mind the lack of a direct rail connection. This means that many changes may be necessary. Journey times will be longer than normal.
