St Margarethen is a town in Burgenland near the state capital of Eisenstadt, in Austria. It is home to a large 1st-century Roman quarry. The town is close to the border with Hungary. The Pan-European Picnic peace demonstration was held near St. Margarethen in 1989 at the close of the Cold War. St. Margarethen im Lungau ski resort is centrally located, yet tucked away from the noisy hustle and bustle of the streets. In the summer, you can enjoy the area’s sun, clear waters, and mountains; in the winter, we’ve got snow, ski slopes, cross-country trails, and a whole lot of family fun.
St. Margarethen, with its Katschberg - Aineck ski area is a popular ski resort in the winter. You’ll find flat, easy access roads to the ski area with plenty of parking at the base of the Aineck mountain lifts. A total of 16 modern chair and tow lifts link the interconnected ski areas of Katschberg and Aineck, and a ski bus will bring you safely to your desired destination. We offer over 66 km of perfectly groomed runs; snowboarders will find a half pipe, pro jump, and slides, as well as a fun park. The children’s ski school, Firnsepp, is run by trained staff members and gladly accomodates beginning young skiers, ranging in age from the wee little ones to older kids.
