    Abtenau is a ski resort in Dachstein West, Austrian Alps with 80km of Piste  and altitudes ranging from 710m to 1200m above sea level. This resort is part of the Dachstein West ski area with access to 97 individual pistes. In addition to the skiing in Abtenau itself (80km of pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Dachstein West ski resorts of Annaberg, Gosau, Katrin - Bad Ischl, Krippenstein, Obertraun/Dachstein and Rußbach. The skiing is at relatively low altitude, so snow cover can be variable. The resort offers many other activities like cycling, hiking, canyoning, rafting and paragliding.

    There are four Airports within two hours drive, so ski weekends, snowboard breaks and short ski holidays to Abtenau are perfectly feasible. Salzburg Airport is just one hours drive away, in good driving conditions, so you can be on the piste quickly.

    Is there public transport to Abtenau

    From Salzburg you will have to take the train to Golling-Abtenau and then change to the bus. The journey takes about an hour. The train will take you to Golling-Abtenau from other airports as well but the journey may take up to four hours to get to the resort.

    Advice on Transportation to Abtenau

    While many people do use the public transport listed above they can sometimes be time consuming like some train journeys from airports not listed above may take up a long time to reach the resort.
