Bardonecchia is an Italian town and commune located in the Province of Turin, in the Piedmont region, in the western part of Susa Valley. It grew out of a small village with the works for the railway Frejus tunnel, the first while crossing the Alps. The town has successfully hosted the snowboarding events of the 2006 Winter Olympics. This lovely town, which is located about 90 km from Turin at the intersection of four valleys, is surrounded by mountains, including several whose peaks surpass 3,000 m (9,800 ft).
The historic center is set back and elevated (Borgo Vecchio), while the new part of town was built around the train station (Borgo Nuovo). The town has grown thanks to activities related to customs, logistics, and tourism; as a result, it has incorporated some neighboring villages, and thus has become one of the largest towns in the Susa Valley.
Bardonecchia ski resort has 140km of Piste and altitudes ranging from 1310m to 2750m above sea level. This resort has direct access to 140km of downhill skiing, with 49 individual pistes, served by 21 ski lifts. With pistes above 2500 meters, skiing and snowboarding is assured throughout the season.

There is a direct train from Turin and Chambery that takes only one and a half hour to get to Bardonecchia. There is a direct train from Lyon as well but the journey takes up to three hours. From other airports several train changes will be necessary and the transfer time takes a lot longer.
