    Some Facts about Brienz Axalp

    Axalp, in the winter is a small, romantic but perfectly formed winter sports resort. Axalp is also a family-friendly resort, with the “Axiland” ski area that caters for the youngest skiers. The nursery slope is geared to-wards teaching children to ski in a fun ambiance. Sledging, snow fun and seating for parents and onlookers makes this ski resort one of the most attractive ones in the region. Three ski lifts, one triple chair lift and two free of charge ski lifts for children, brings winter sports enthusiasts up to an altitude of 2 000 meters. This Ski Resort of has direct access to 18km of downhill skiing, with 11 individual pistes. The ski resort rests above 1500m, so skiing or boarding back to the resort is usually possible. Axalp also offers sign posted snow shoe paths and groomed cross-country skiing trails. Enjoy an enchanted winter break off the beaten track.

    From which airport can I reach Brienz Axalp?

    The most convenient airport to reach Axalp is Bern or Basel and even Zurich. These offer a one to two hour transfer time respectively to and from the resort. Geneva, Lugano and St Gallen airports van also be used, but they are further away.

    Is there public transport to Brienz Axalp?

    With no direct rail link journey will need several changes, which sometimes add to the journey time. Below are the main viable methods of public transport to Axalp:

    • Coming from Bern take the train via  Interlaken Ost to Brienz, then change to the bus to Axalp. The journey can take up to three hours.
    • Coming from Basel take the train via  Interlaken Ost to Brienz, then change to the bus to Axalp. The journey can take up to four hours.
    • Coming from Zurich take the train via Luzern to Brienz, then change to the bus to Axalp. The journey takes about four hours.

    Advice on Transportation to Brienz Axalp.

    While many people do use the above public transport links they are time consuming. You are much better off booking an airport transfer from the airport where you land. You will benefit from a shorter journey time and a direct route. You also get the added bonus of travelling in comfort, and of a guaranteed journey that is pre-booked. Airport transfers are also the most cost-effective method of getting to Axalp.
