    Some Facts about Cavalese

    Cavalese is a commune in Trentino, Northern Italy, a ski resort and the main center in the Val di Fiemme. It is part of the Magnifica Comunità di Fiemme (Magnificent Community of Fiemme) and alongwith Predazzo it is the administrative, cultural and historical center of the valley. The town is a renowned tourist location, during winter for cross-country and alpine ski and during summer for excursions. Cavalese provides summer visitors with plenty of outdoor activities, such as trekking, horse-riding and mountain-biking. An ice skating rink, many swimming pools, fitness facilities, spas and a Nordic walking park are available to visitors. There are also many events happening throughout summer, including music, food and historical celebration. Cavalese is family-friendly place where special holiday plans are always arranged for kids and many facilities has been equipped with instructors and entertainers. Cavalese boasts a wide range of accommodation facilities, including hotels, b&b, guest houses and farmhouse accommodation.

    In addition to the skiing in Cavalese itself (70km of pisted ski runs), the appropriate ski Lift Pass will allow you to ski or snowboard in the other Val di Fiemme ski resorts like Alpe Cermis, Alpe di Pampeago, Bellamonte - Alpe Lusia, Latemar, Passo Lavazè - Oclini and Passo Rolle.With pistes above 2500 meters, skiing and snowboarding is assured throughout the season. 

    From which airport can I reach Cavalese?

    The most convenient airport to are Verona and Venice. There are some other Airports within two hours’ drive, so ski weekends, snowboard breaks and short ski holidays to Cavalese are possible. The following airports link Cavalese and all of them provide airport transfers to the ski resort:

    • Treviso - 146 km
    • Verona - 155 km
    • Venice - 187 km
    • Bergamo - 240 km
    • Brescia - 207 km

    Is there public transport to Cavalese?

    There are buses which ply to Cavalese from all major airports. However, if you are looking at using public transport be aware that there will be necessary changes. Train options from the nearest airports are limited. There are many changed needed from Bergamo airport for example and the journey takes between 6 to 20 hours which might wear out the ski passionate tourist. Here are some public transportation options:

    • From Treviso take the bus to Forno, then change to the bus to Cavalese. The journey may take up to five hours.
    • You can take a direct shuttle bus if you are coming from Verona Airport. If coming from City Centre you have to take the train to Ora, then change to the bus to Cavalese. Both of these rides takes about three hours. 
    • There is a direct bus from Brescia. It is really rare (only five times a week) but if you are lucky then it will take you to Cavalese in two and a half hours.
    • Coming from other Airports by public transportation requires many changes and it is time consuming.

    Advice on Transportation to Cavalese.

    While many people do use the above public transport links they are time consuming. You are much better off booking an airport transfer from the airport where you land. You will benefit from a shorter journey time and a direct route. You also get the added bonus of travelling in comfort, and of a guaranteed journey that is pre-booked. Airport transfers are also the most cost-effective method of getting to this resort.
