    Chamrousse is a popular ski resort in the Islere region of South East France. It is close to the Italian border. There are more than 90km of slopes at Chamrousse, with off-piste options too. The slopes can cater for all levels of experience. The resort is smaller than some of the major ski areas and therefore is less busy. The town itself offers a choice of hotels and guest houses and a quiet atmosphere. There are local shops, some restaurants and bars, and several local towns with more lively nightlife nearby. Chamrousse was the site of Alpine skiing events in the 1968 Winter Olympics.
