    Some Facts about Dobbiaco

    Dobbiaco (Toblach) is situated at the entrance to the beautiful and wild Val di Landro. The town is famous for its cultural highlights, in particular the Gustav Mahler Music Week. Situated at an altitude – 1,256 meters above sea level – that makes it ideally suited for both summer and winter activities. In the winter the Tour de Ski comes to Dobbiaco. The town is also venue for other cross country skiing competitions. For skiing and snowboarding, there are 4 km of slopes available. 3 lifts transport the guests. During the summer holidays at Dobbiaco there are many possibilities to do beautiful hikes.

    From which airport can I reach Dobbiaco?

    The most convenient airport to reach Dobbiaco is Innsbruck, Treviso or Venice, all are one to two hour transfer to Dobbiaco. Munich, Bergamo, Brescia, Verona and Milan are also options for Dobbiaco but transfer time can be well over three hours during peak travel time such as Saturday and Sunday.     There are buses which ply to the resort from Innsbruck airport. However, if you are looking at using public transport from other airports be aware that there will be necessary changes. Please note if you fly into Innsbruck or Munich airport you will have to travel via Brenner pass which might increase your costs. Here are some possible public transport options:

    • There are direct busses from Innsbruck airport to Dobbiaco twice daily. The journey takes about two and a half hours.
    • You can take a bus from Treviso City center via Cortina d'Ampezzo to Dobbiaco. It may take up to three hours to get to Dobbiaco.
    • There is a bus from Venice airport via Cortina d'Ampezzo to Dobbiaco. The journey takes about three and a half hours.
    • From Verona airport take the bus to Vandoies/Vintl then change to the train to Dobbiaco. The journey to Dobbiaco takes roughly three and a half hours.

    Advice on Transportation to Dobbiaco

    While many people do use the above public transport links they may be time consuming. You are much better off booking an airport transfer from the airport where you land. You will benefit from a shorter journey time and a direct route. You also get the added bonus of travelling in comfort, and of a guaranteed journey that is pre-booked. Airport transfers are also the most cost-effective method of getting to this mountain resort.
