Some Facts about La Forêt Blanche

The two resorts of Risoul and Vars combine together to create the largest ski area in the Southern French Alps, offering its visitor about 180kms of un-crowded, well groomed pistes. The excellent range of skiing is mainly suitable for beginners and intermediate skiers alike, although advanced skiers will enjoy the challenge of the mogul filled black runs leading down to Vars and the numerous off-piste opportunities through the densely wooded areas descending into Risoul. The resorts themselves sit at an altitude of 1850m with skiing extending up to the higher realms of 2750m. The snow record is good and the sunshine hours are virtually unrivalled throughout the Alps.

Although purpose built, both of the resorts in La Foret Blanche have been constructed with an aesthetic eye for the stunning natural surroundings using lots of natural materials, blending the properties into their woodland settings. The atmosphere in both resorts is typically French as well as friendly and more relaxed than some of the resorts neighbouring cousins. Risoul is the more compact of the two resorts with many more traditional buildings while Vars is the more modern of these resorts offering a wider selection of facilities.

If you are looking for a great destination to take your family skiing, then Risoul and Vars must be high on your list. The skiing will cater for all abilities and off the piste, the bars, restaurants and other amenities all offer great entertainment at excellent value for money.
