    The Corvatsch is a local mountain with innumerable opportunities for winter sports: 120 kilometers of pistes, 23 descents and Switzerland’s longest illuminated nightime descent. For that reason and also because it is a paradise for snowkiters, Silvaplana has become a meeting place for winter sports fans. Since the spectacular sport was invented on the frozen Silvaplana Lake, trend seeking sports enthusiasts from all over the world await the Maloja wind, which starts blowing punctually like a Swiss clock at midday. The Lake District and the snowed-over Swiss stone pine forests beckon you to take long strolls. Two hundred kilometers of well-prepared cross-country ski tracks make Silvaplana a cross-country skiing Eldorado. Ice-skating, snowshoe tours and an ice-rink with facilities for curling guarantee pure winter fun.

    Is there public transport to Silvaplana

    There are buses which ply to the resort from the airport listed above. Train options to this resort are available with trains leaving from St. Gallen-Altenrhein airport and running Mon-Sat: 7 AM–7 PM · every 60 min with a journey time of 4 hours and 13 minutes. From Basel airport too trains run Mon-Sun: 10:30 AM–5 PM · every 90 min and the journey time is 5 hours and 43 minutes. From Innsbruck airport trains also run Fri-Sat · 4 times per day and the travel time is 6 hours and 58 minutes. Trains from other airports may take a longer time to reach the resort.

    Advice on Transportation to Silvaplana

    While many people do use the public transport listed above they can sometimes be time consuming like some train journeys from airports not listed above may take up a long time to reach the resort. You are much better off booking an airport transfer from the airport where you land especially if you are travelling as a group. You will benefit from a shorter journey time and a direct route. You also get the added bonus of travelling in comfort, and of a guaranteed journey that is pre-booked.
