    Some Facts about Stubai

    Stubaital is an alpine valley in Tyrol, Austria. It is the central valley of the Stubai Alps. The Ruetz river flows through the valley. This 40-km long valley runs southwest from Schönberg im Stubaital, near Innsbruck. Below Fulpmes, the towns lie on terraces above the Ruetz on either side of the river. At Fulpmes the terraces merge to form the valley floor. South of Neustift im Stubaital, the main valley continues as the Unterberg and the tributary Oberbergtal branches to the north. The ÖBB operates from the 16-MW hydroelectric power plant located in Fulpmes. The municipalities in the valley include Schönberg im Stubaital, Mieders, Telfes, Fulpmes and Neustift im Stubaital. Public transportation from Innsbruck into the valley is available via the Stubaital bus route or the Stubai Valley Railway. At the end of the Stubaital valley the Stubai Glacier is used as a ski resort. The Stubai-Superski-Ticket (available from December until April) comprises the local ski-bus-system, two public indoor swimming pools and winter sport facilities . The Elfer-mountain with its two chairlifts, two T-bars and a brilliant beginners'ground with artificial snow making facilities right in the centre of Neustift.

    There are three Airports within two hours drive, so ski weekends, snowboard breaks and short ski holidays to Stubai are perfectly feasible. Innsbruck Airport is just one hours drive away, in good driving conditions, so you can be on the piste quickly.

    There are buses which ply to the resort from the airport listed above. Train options from the airports listed above are not available for this particular resort.

    Advice on Transportation to Stubai

    While many people do use the public transport listed above they can sometimes be time consuming like some train journeys from airports not listed above may take up a long time to reach the resort. You are much better off booking an airport transfer from the airport where you land especially if you are travelling as a group. You will benefit from a shorter journey time and a direct route. You also get the added bonus of travelling in comfort, and of a guaranteed journey that is pre-booked.
